Space Camp what have we become?

Part 2 of Common Core’s Big Brother STEM http://wp.me/p4D0Vn-h

Back in the 80’s you think SpaceCamp you think of this fine uplifting film.

Many in aerospace today were motivated by this film.

http://www.spacecamp.com/about
Space Camp is the brainchild of rocket scientist, Dr. Wernher von Braun. Von Braun led propulsion activities that launched the Apollo-era U.S. manned space program and envisioned an aggressive schedule for America’s space-bound pioneers. Von Braun, then director of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, reasoned there should be an experience for young people who were excited about space. Under the guidance of Edward O. Buckbee, the first director of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Space Camp was born.

But times have changed.

The Space Shuttle is no more, and new motivations are the order of the day.

This article caught my eye; and begs the question what have we become?

http://www.theonion.com/articles/modernized-space-camp-allows-kids-to-simulate-frus,36148/

“representatives for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center announced Thursday that its newly updated Space Camp will allow children to simulate the anger and mounting frustration experienced by NASA personnel over a continual lack of funding.”

We put camp attendees in the shoes of dedicated NASA scientists whose attempts to further scientific understanding through the analysis of asteroid composition are halted by one of our camp staffers playing the role of a U.S. senator targeting all ‘nonessential’ initiatives,” said counselor Tyler Campbell.

This might be called indoctrination not motivation?

Is this the Hope and Change people voted for?

The Taxi Service Soyuz Part 2

The Taxi Service Soyuz seats to the ISS.

Update or Part 2 Blog posted: http://wp.me/p4D0Vn-r

This update has the view from the Russian side. Since the US taxpayer is paying millions of dollars we should be watching with transparency.

The US respects all religions but if you read our press, many people and groups object to minor displays of religion. This begs the question; if they American public saw what their taxpayer money was going for how would they respond?

Of late the issues with Ukraine have brought more emphasis on Space within Russia. Its standard Soviet doctrine. Only difference is that the US taxpayer is footing the bill for it and nothing is “generic”

On May 28, 23 hours 57 minutes Moscow time from the launch pad complex 1 (“Gagarin’s Start”) Baikonur Cosmodrome launchers calculations of rocket-space industry Russia conducted a successful launch (ILV) “Soyuz-FG” intended for injection into orbit manned transport spacecraft (WPK) “Soyuz TMA-13M.” After 528 seconds of flight TPK “Soyuz TMA-13M” (Maxim Suraev (Roscosmos), Reid Wiseman (NASA) and Alexander Gerst (ESA) cleanly separated from the rocket’s third stage- carrier orbiting artificial satellite.Docking TPK “Soyuz TMA-13M” from the International Space Station took place at 05.47 MSK on May 29. Source: Press Service of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Video: Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center www.gctc .

As I stated in the first blog post the Russian launch service has many traditions.

Many times the Priests bless the crew, backup crew, Soyuz etc.

TMA-13M003

TMA-13M004

So since the Obama Administration officially canceled the Shuttle, this Soyuz taxi service has been our transport to the ISS. It will continue until at least 2018 or Russia says no.

Obama’s Space Gamble

Not sure if notable Professor, and communicator Michio Kaku had a chance to read this blog. He confirms many of the points made on this page: Epic Fail Obama’s Commercial Crew Program http://wp.me/p4D0Vn-U

On May 30, 2014 Michio Kaku appeared on the CBS show “This Morning”

http://fyre.it/5dFI0b.4

Mr. Kaku agrees that Obama gambled with the US space program.

intervie003

He agreed SpaceX’s Dragon won’t be operational for “3-4 years” that’s 2017-2018

He warned that “We are subject to blackmail from the Russians”

Warned The US “could be left homeless” from the ISS.

intervie005

Warned, “It’s a race against time”

Mr. Kaku also suggested we needed to “have this operational before 2018”.

As pointed out in the previous blog post this program was to have demonstration flights in 2014.

With the Russian threats we need an operational spacecraft in 2015! That being said Obama’s Gamble with Commercial Crew is a Epic Failure
